TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE
The unplanned changes that can occur sometimes in an organization can be disruptive and can also be beneficial depending on the situation. Managers that are good at identifying situations, are quick at taking advantage of unexpected situations which is called reactive change in order to respond well to an event. Some managers are even better because they think forward in order to be prepared for situations that can create problems and opportunities. These managers are called proactive leaders who activate planned change, which allows managers to protect the organization from future challenges. Performance gaps are also seeked by managers in order to deal with potential problems or potential opportunities. There are two types of planned organizational change which are radical transformational change and incremental change. The radical transformational change brings a radical change to the organization that changes the operations of the organization immensly. This type of change is directed by the top management and brings changes to strategies, culture, and purpose of mission. Incremental change does not bring a radical change to the organization but makes small changes to the systems and the practices to better deal with problems encountered by the organization. This type of leadership works with the existing ways of operations in a process of making changes for improvements.
