- This theory states that the servant leaders are responsible for attaining success for the organization by paying attention to the needs of the followers
- Leaders should be a servant first in order to better serve others, which would result in followers to reciprocate through good performance, and effort
- Servant leaders take the focus away from themselves and place the focus on other people
- Focus on the best interests of employees and buyers
- Adopts team approach
- The servant leader tends to make groups that display strong strengths
- Servant leader searches for the good of the entire company
- Puts well being of followers before goals
Disadvantages of Servant Leadership:
- Implementation of the theory is very time consuming
- The theory begins at top but the change has to be made all throughout the organization
- Individual followers may have to make sacrifices for the whole
- The leader assumes that the followers want to change
- Question of what is "better" and who has the right to decide
