- The leader has the complete authority to make decisions on behalf of the subordinates
- Ideas are not taken from other workers
- Used in situations where errors cannot be tolerated therefore the leader makes the right decision
- Leader makes the decision when the subordinates are inexperienced for that particular work

Advantages of Autocratic Leadership:
- Can be effective in work environments that require decisions to be made quickly
- Easier for leader to keep a close watch on the activities of the workers
- Good for leaders that like to have complete control
- Less need of layers of management
Disadvantages of Autocratic Leadership:
- Little praise for the workers
- Workers are told exactly what to do which might not make some employees happy as they have no freedom to do things their way
- Can create an environment of fear and resentment
