Leadership styles refer to the way of manner and approach of providing direction, implementation of plans and motivating followers. Each leadership style has a different approach and way of implementing leadership skills. Different leadership styles have different advantages and disadvantages according to the methods that are used in the leadership style. Managers should be able to identify which leadership style suits best for the followers in order to achieve maximum success of the group. Managers utilize the best leadership style in order to ensure that the productivity and success is maximized. Leadership styles are usually decided on the situation that is faced by the leader and the followers; depending on the situation, the leadership style that best suites the situation is utilized by the leader. The leadership styles does have an impact on the productivity of the organization because the way the leader conducts the daily operations effects the way the followers get the work done. Leaders should also consider the needs of the followers in order to choose the leadership style that would best satisfy the needs of the followers. Some leadership styles are effective in a particular situation and others are not so effective therefore the leader should be able to make the judgement of whether a leadership style would be effective in a particular situation or not. When deciding the leadership style that should be used, the leader should consider the characteristics of the group members and their needs in order to minimize the resistance that might be faced by the leader in order to deal with the followers.
